Michael: “What’s for dinner, daddy?”
Daddy: “Nachos.”
Michael: “Yummy! I love nachos! What are nachos?”
Daddy: “Taco meat, tortilla chips, salsa, other stuff if you like.”
Michael: “No cheese?”
Daddy: “Not for you. I know better than that.”
Michael: “It’s like a taco?”
Daddy: “Basically. It’s a taco in another form. A deconstruction.”
(brief pause)
Michael: “You know, ‘nacho’ is Spanish for ‘taco’.”
Daddy, laughing: “Oh, is that right? It’s Spanish?”
Michael: “Yes. Daddy, I’m really serious about this.”
Daddy: “All righty then.”

Michael is so cute, especially when he is serious!
(MD) There’s nothing funnier than a serious kid.

That’s pretty funny, have you been letting him watch Jim Gaffigan’s bit about working in a Mexican restaurant?
(MD) Nah; Jim Gaffigan calls Michael up for material.

Michael makes me smile. Thanks.
(MD) He makes me laugh too, but sometimes it’s a crying sort of laugh.

Funny! Hope Michael loved his nachos.
(MD) I think he did. Would have enjoyed them more if he liked cheese, though. Everything’s better with cheese.

I see this as an opportunity to teach Michael some REAL Spanish, he is at an age when language is supposed to be easier.
He might surprise you and I’M SERIOUS!
Love, the other grandmother
(MD) We’ll see. I’d like to see him learn to read English first.
