We’re watching “Shrek The Third” at Michael’s request.
As usual, he’s watching it mainly with his mouth:
“Why he’s green?”
“What’s the cat doing?”
“Where are they going?”
“The donkey is mad.”
“Shrek has a big hand. He’s loud, too.”
And on, and on, and on. From the first frame, Michael continued to make observations, ask questions, and make his internal dialog very loudly external.
Finally, sister S had had enough:
“Michael! Can’t you be quiet for just one minute?”
“SHHHHH!” Michael scolded her. “I’m trying to concentrate!”
Yeah. How rude of his sister to interrupt his concentration.
It must take concentration to think up all of those questions.
(MD) He has developed question-asking into a martial art form.
Michael is working on questions because he is going to take over the question king (Larry King) some day!!!
(Hubby) I can just visualize it: After a mere ten minutes, his guests are running and screaming from the set, hands clamped over their bleeding ears as Michael chases after them, still firing questions.
All of those questions show that Michael is thinking!
(MD) No doubt about that. Just hope he uses all that thinking for good.
Maybe Michael just concentrates a little louder than the rest of us? Maybe he’s just using his words of concentration to absorb the movie a little better? I admit I laughed when I read his words, “SHHHH! I’m concentrating.” What was his sister’s reaction?
(MD) Her reaction was a little like mine, at first: dropped jaw and stunned silence. Mine dissolved into stifled laughter, but hers into hot indignation. He’s always been a little motor mouth; I think he gets the chattiness from his grandmother. Shhh… don’t tell her I said that.
His “microscopic motor mouth” comes from Grandma A not from Grandma K – just to clarify and in a loving spirit. I must admit when sister S was his age I did say I should have named her Chatty Cathy!!!
(Hubby) I was quite the blabber mouth when I was little, so the genes definitely passed through me… Love you mom!!!
Surely she doesn’t think all these questions come without some concentration. Funny stuff.
(MD) The problem with Sister S is that she appreciates neither her brother’s artistic talent nor his medium.
